Surma companies
Surma provides efficient software tools for comprehensive combat survivability assessment and services for naval research. We are a naval design oriented expert organization with special focus on issues releted to combat survivability.
In addition to the development of these tools Surma also provides services for ship combat survivability assessment and calculations and support for research on related phenomena.
The company, Surma Ltd, was established early 2007 and its mission is to provide efficient tools for complete survivability assessment for naval designers. Our 2011 established US sister company, Surma Inc, serves our customers in America.
The development of SURMA has started as a part of a project conducted by the Finnish Navy, with which we are still doing extensive co-operation regarding further research and validation etc. The Finnish Navy is also the pilot customer for the SURMA applications. However, SURMA is intended to be a commercial software application available on open markets.
All company shares are held by key personnel of the company, thus the company is totally independent. Net sales was 505 k€ in 2010, from which 22 % was export and close to 100 % from defence sector. Currently Surma employs 8 persons, from which 7 are located in our Helsinki office and 1 is in our Washington DC office.

Our main office is located in the very center of Helsinki. Visiting address is Kaisaniemenkatu 1, which is easy to reach by any means of transportation. All visitors are requested to notify their arrival in advance.
